Turn rules
you can't end the turn early. it ends by itself when no legal move or drop is left.
Check & win
win by checkmate. no other way. the king insists.
off: you may give check and keep moving, and the opponent starts in check. kings can never be captured.
Special cards
relative to your current color. pawns never land on the first or last rank.
Dealing
Display
auto picks face-to-face on phones and desktop everywhere else. gary always plays on desktop; he gets nervous.
shows what's left in the deck. for the organized.
the lines jiggle. a bit slow on older phones, so it's off by default.
pieces get bonked, dizzy, sleepy, and a deadpan caption comments on it.
your card is drawn for you at the start of each turn. (not used in hold 2.)
how long things hang around: card announcements, skips, auto-draw, and gary's pauses.
resets the deck and rules. names and layout stay.
